Overview

Kibale National Park is located in western Uganda, about 320 km west of the capital city of Kampala.

It is situated between the towns of Fort Portal and Kasese. The park covers an area of approximately 795 square kilometers (307 square miles).

Kibale is famous for its primate population, which includes 13 species such as chimpanzees, red colobus monkeys, and the rare L’Hoest’s monkeys.

It also has over 300 bird species and a variety of other mammals like elephants, buffaloes, and antelopes.

Popular activities in the park include chimpanzee trekking, forest walks, bird watching, and community cultural visits. The Ndali-Kasenda crater lakes area within the park is also a key highlight.
