Overview

Kibale National Park is located in western Uganda, about 320 km west of the capital city of Kampala.

It is situated between the towns of Fort Portal and Kasese. The park covers an area of approximately 795 square kilometers (307 square miles).

Kibale is famous for its primate population, which includes 13 species such as chimpanzees, red colobus monkeys, and the rare L’Hoest’s monkeys.

It also has over 300 bird species and a variety of other mammals like elephants, buffaloes, and antelopes.

Popular activities in the park include chimpanzee trekking, forest walks, bird watching, and community cultural visits. The Ndali-Kasenda crater lakes area within the park is also a key highlight.

Day 01 :

Kampala to Kibale National Park

Depart from your hotel for Fort Portal City which is a 5-hour drive from Kampala.
Enjoy a sumptuous lunch on arrival.
Arrive at Kibale National Park for an expedition across the famous Lake Nyambikere, a crater lake formed through a volcanic explosion. The lake is believed to be home to indigenous frogs hence the name.
Later enjoy a nature walk around Lake Nyamiteza that will earn you a bird watching experience of about over 300 bird species that are found around the lake.
Embark on a cave exploration adventure at Amabere Ga Nyina Mwiru caves and a site visit to Nyakasura waterfall. The limestone cave comprises beautiful stalagmites and stalactites that have an interesting mythical story attached to them about their formation.
Dinner and an overnight stay at a luxury or budget-friendly hotel in Fort Portal City.

Day 02 :

Kibale National Park to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest.

Start the day with a hearty breakfast at your hotel/lodge in Kibale National Park.
Enjoy a scenic drive to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, which is approximately 4-5 hours away.
Stop over at various points along the way to rest and enjoy the scenic views.
Arrive at your lodge in Bwindi and check in. Spend the evening relaxing and acclimatizing to the high altitude.

Day 03 :

Bwindi Impenetrable Forest

Enjoy a hearty breakfast before embarking on an early morning gorilla trekking expedition under your experienced guide.
Hike through the dense, biodiverse forest to locate a habituated gorilla family group. Once the gorillas are located, you’ll be able to observe them for up to 1 hour, marveling at their behaviors and interactions.
Enjoy a picnic lunch in a scenic location within the park.
Enjoy a cultural expedition of the Batwa people. Visit a Batwa cultural site to learn about the indigenous Batwa people, the former forest dwellers of Bwindi. Participate in traditional dances, songs, and demonstrations to gain insights into their way of life.
Embark on a guided hike to a scenic waterfall within Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. The moderate hike will take you through diverse forest habitats, offering opportunities to spot birds, primates, and other wildlife.
At the waterfall, spend time admiring the cascading waters and the lush, verdant surroundings.

Day 04 :

Bwindi Impenetrable Forest to Kampala

Enjoy a hearty breakfast before disembarking from your accommodation in Bwindi’s impenetrable forest.
Embark on a once-in-a-lifetime mountain gorilla trekking experience. Hike through the dense forest with an experienced guide to locate and observe a habituated gorilla family group for up to one hour.
Enjoy a cultural visit to Igongo Cultural Center, where there will be a museum visit, a Nkwazi crafts and bookshop, and a cultural village expedition.
Journey to the equator crossing; a historical landmark located at Kayabwe, a road towards Kampala.
The last stop is at the famous Art and Crafts Village in Kampala. Here one can collect mementos for memories about their visit to Uganda.
Drop off at the airport for departure to Kampala.
