Your 3-day Masai Mara adventure begins with a pickup from your Nairobi hotel or Jomo Kenyatta International Airport. As you drive through the stunning Great Rift Valley, you’ll stop at the famous Viewpoint—about one hour from Nairobi, for a 15-minute break to enjoy panoramic views and take photos of this incredible geological formation. The journey continues to Narok Town, roughly two hours from the Viewpoint, where you can grab a snack or lunch, explore local markets and shops, and learn about the area’s natural features, including the Ewaso Ng’iro River, which flows for about 700 kilometers from the Aberdare Ranges. From Narok, the drive to the Maasai Mara takes another two hours, offering scenic landscapes of rolling hills and open savannah, with increasing chances of spotting wildlife as you approach the reserve.
Upon arrival at your camp or lodge, you’ll check in and enjoy lunch before heading out for your first evening game drive. The Masai Mara, renowned for its rich biodiversity and dramatic scenery—sits at an altitude of about 1,650 meters (5,414 feet) and spans approximately 1,510 square kilometers (almost 600 square miles). It forms the northern extension of the Serengeti and is home to Africa’s most iconic wildlife, including lions, elephants, zebras, and giraffes. After the game drive, you’ll return to your camp or lodge for dinner and an overnight stay, preparing for more adventure ahead.
