Overview

Queen Elizabeth National Park is one of the most popular and biologically diverse national parks in Uganda. Situated in the western part of the country along the border with the Democratic Republic of Congo, the park encompasses a variety of ecosystems and habitats that support an abundance of wildlife.

The park covers an area of approximately 1,978 square kilometers (764 square miles), making it the second-largest national park in Uganda after Murchison Falls National Park.

It is located between the towns of Kasese and Rukungiri in the Western Region of Uganda.The park is renowned for its impressive wildlife diversity, boasting of over 95 mammal species and more than 600 bird species.

Some of the key animals found in the park include elephants, hippos, lions, leopards, Uganda kobs, buffaloes, chimpanzees, and a variety of primates, antelopes, and smaller mammals. The Kazinga Channel, which connects Lake Edward and Lake George, is home to one of the largest concentrations of hippos in Africa.

Day 01 :

Arrival and afternoon game drive.

Arrive at Kasese Airport or Mweya Peninsula and transfer to your accommodation inside the park.
Savor a delicious lunch and take some time to relax, unwind and settle in.
Embark on an afternoon game drive through the Kasenyi and Queen’s Mile areas of the park. Look out for lions, elephants, Uganda kobs, and other wildlife.
Return to your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 02 :

Game drive and boat cruise.

Enjoy a delicious breakfast before embarking on a morning game drive. The morning game drive is a great way to explore the park’s diverse wildlife, including animals like elephants, waterbucks, buffaloes, Uganda kobs, lions, leopards, bushbucks, warthogs, giant forest hogs, hyenas, and many bird species.
Enjoy a picnic lunch at a designated area within the park.
Embark on a boat cruise along the Kazinga channel. The Kazinga Channel boat cruise is a two-hour wildlife viewing experience along the river. The boats are open-sided, covered to protect from sun or rain, and fitted with seats for relaxation.
During the boat cruise, you will have the chance to see a variety of wildlife that congregate along the channel’s banks. Key sights include large numbers of hippos, as well as crocodiles, buffalo, elephants, and a diverse array of water birds.
Return to your camp/lodge and share your amazing experience with fellow travel enthusiasts.
Dinner and an overnight stay at the camp/lodge.

Day 03 :

Chimpanzee trekking and Ishasha sector game drive.

Start your day with an early breakfast to prepare for the chimpanzee trekking activity.
Head to the Kyambura Gorge, a 100m deep rift valley located within the boundaries of Queen Elizabeth National Park. The Kyambura Gorge is home to a community of chimpanzees, our closest living relatives in the animal kingdom.
Embark on a guided trek through the dense, lush forest of the gorge. The trek can take anywhere from 1 to 2 hours, depending on the location of the chimpanzee community that day.
Once you locate the chimps, you will be able to spend 1-2 hours observing their fascinating behaviors, social interactions, and movements through the trees.This is an incredible opportunity to see chimpanzees in their natural habitat and gain a deeper appreciation for these intelligent primates.
Depart early for the Ishasha sector of the park, known for its unique tree-climbing lions.
Embark on a game drive, searching for the tree-climbing lions as well as other wildlife like elephants, antelopes, and birds.
Enjoy a picnic lunch at a designated area within the park.
Return to your camp/lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 04 :

Final Game Drive And Departure.

Embark on an early morning game drive after savoring a delicious breakfast at your camp/lodge.
Return to your lodge/camp and after checkout depart for Kampala or any destination of choice.
